In 2017, Katie moved to Charlotte to begin her career with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Since then, Katie has served as theatre arts teacher in a variety of schools. Throughout her teaching career, Katie has taught at Title 1 and Magnet schools as well as teaching at all grade levels, K-12.  In that time, she has discovered that middle school students are her calling because they match her theatrical and sometimes quirky demeanor.

 

In 2022, Katie received her Masters in Public Administration from the University of North Carolina - Charlotte. She has used her understanding of government and non-profit organization to advocate for her students and the arts education community at large. In 2023, she founded July Ruby Consulting. Her goal at July Ruby is to empower nonprofits, businesses, and government organizations to create meaningful and lasting impact on the arts, education, and community development sectors.

 

In her free time, Katie loves to explore her own creative side. While she is a performing artist at heart, some of her recent projects include learning to sew her own clothes and refining her graphic design skills. Katie lives in Harrisburg, NC with her husband David and their many pets, including a naughty cat named Hamlet.
